UAE multiple-entry visa
A multiple-entry visa lets you enter and leave the country as often as you like while it is valid. A single-entry visa allows one entry: step out of the country and it is spent. The price gap is real, so it is worth working out whether you need the multi.
Multiple entry versus single entry
A single-entry visa stops working the moment you cross the border on the way out. Even if the validity has not run out, you cannot come back on it — you need a new one.
A multiple-entry visa carries no such limit. Throughout its validity you enter and leave as many times as you need and the visa stays alive.
Do not confuse the validity of the visa with the length of stay it permits. A multi-visa does not let you live in the country longer — it gives you freedom of movement within the same period.
Who genuinely needs one
Anyone planning trips from the UAE to neighbouring countries. Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain — on a single-entry visa each of those hops means you are not coming back to the Emirates.
Anyone travelling on business without a fixed schedule: meetings move, trips get added, and one extra exit should not wreck the whole plan.
Anyone using Dubai as a base: stay a while, fly somewhere for a couple of days, come back.
When paying extra makes no sense
If you are flying to Dubai for a holiday, going nowhere outside the UAE and heading home on one flight, a single-entry visa is enough. The multi is simply more expensive with nothing to show for it.
Moving around inside the country does not touch the visa: Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah are the same Emirates and you cross no border.

Frequently asked questions
Does a multiple-entry visa let me stay in the UAE longer?
No. The permitted stay is the same, one or two months. The multi changes the number of entries, not the duration.
Can a single-entry visa be upgraded to a multi after submission?
An issued visa does not change type. The decision has to be made before submission, which is why we always ask about your route first.
Does a trip to Abu Dhabi count as leaving the country?
No, all seven emirates are one country. The visa is only spent when you cross a national border.
